Surely you know by now that E! Entertainment is invading Africa, starting with their SAFTA’s red carpet coverage hosted by Maps Maponyane and Bonang Matheba this coming weekend, but, what you may not know is that E! Africa will have more than two people on the team.
Blogger, Mika Stefano and model, Ayanda Thabethe will also be red carpet correspondents for E! Africa.
Meet the E! Africa team…
What don’t we know about one of Africa’s hardest working media girls?
She is on Metro FM in the morning, Afternoon Express in the evening and Top Billing one evening every week. Not to mention the many other once-off gigs she lands every few weeks and the multiple brand collaborations she currently has going. Hers is the face and the voice you can’t escape and you can’t help but love.
There is no one else who could have been E!’s number one draft pick.
Believe it or not, there is more to Maps than just a pretty face (a cute smile and a body that looks like it was carved by the Gods).
Seriously, he’s not just a Man Crush Monday candidate (MCM) for a living.
The model, actor and presenter will now be the Ryan Seacrest to Matheba’s Guiliana Rancic as of Sunday the 20th when they take to the Red Carpet for the second night of the 10th Annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA’s).
Knowing Maps, he might just take a page out of B’s book after spending so much time with her… And before we know it, we’ll be seeing his face and hearing his voice ev-e-ry-where.
Mika has come a long way from being GP’s Gossip Gangster…
Not only has he lost a ton of weight and become a SWEAT 1000 ambassador (in addition to affiliation with numerous other fitness brands), but, he has managed to stay out of the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
Mika said he is “really excited to be working with Bonang again after two successful live shows at the Vodacom Durban July for SABC 3.”
He added, “this will be my first time working with Maps, however, we have been friends for over six years and have appeared as guests on various shows together. I feel the three of us will complement each other – adding our own flair and pizzazz – whilst providing a red carpet show similar to any other E! Entertainment Red Carpet Show.”
Mika promises that they will “not to be shy when inspecting the fashion of the nominees and celeb guests,” and adds that he is looking forward to going behind the scenes of the 10th annual SAFTA’s and interviewing the guests in a whole new way.
The KZN born model, who is currently the face of Khosi Nkosi’s widely celebrated label, is the fourth and final addition to the E! Africa team.
Although many still do not know her name, she has gradually been working toward this moment.
She recently explained in an interview on roxyburger.com that it was film maker, Kutlwano Ditsele, who hooked her up with the modelling dream she had been chasing for ages.
After sharing her trouble finding an agency willing to represent such a short model with Ditsele, he took it upon himself to forward her portfolio to Shashi Naidoo who founded Alushi Model Management. Before Thabethe knew it, she began living the dream that she had been pursuing since her days at the University of Pretoria.
Most of the coverage surrounding Thabethe has unfortunately been due to the recent split from her husband of two years, Andile Ncube.
Now, as she makes her acting debut in Rockville season 4 and her presenting debut for E!, one can only hope that we will be speaking about Ayanda as more than someone’s ex wife. Here’s to speaking and writing about Ayanda the presenter, model, actress and business woman.
The first E! Africa SAFTA’s red carpet special will air on E! Entertainment (DSTV Channel 124) on 22nd March 2016, at 8pm.
