Saturday morning kicked off with a surprise invitation to Major League Gardens so I undoubtedly had to say “heck yeah” and pull through to Nasrec.
Kudos to the organizers for improving on last year’s drama by
hosting an amusement themed event that seemed to have gone off without a hitch. If you don’t remember what the drama was, attendees of last year’s Major League Gardens thought their cars had been stolen after they walked out of the event hoping to go home only to find their cars missing without an explanation.
It turns out that parking hadn’t been sorted out so the cops impounded most of the vehicles outside.
This year however, the parking, ticketing and entrance process was quick and easy and security was legit.
The VIP area was awesome and incredibly chill but the who’s who of the event were all sequestered back stage.
The crowd went crazy about each and every act (both performers an d DJ’s) but you could only see how dope they were if you actually went and stood beside the stage or in the crowd. The view and sound of the performances weren’t all that great from the VVIP backstage area. Being able to kick it with Emtee isn’t the same as seeing him perform (no shade whatsoever).
The closing act – Cassper Nyovest – didn’t really switch up the set he performed at the Pink Print tour so if you were at Boomtown and the Pink Print tour, it probably wasn’t anything to write home about. All you had to do was dance and sing along since you probably knew what was coming.
All in all, Major League Gardens was a jump and if this is what they’re going to keep doing, I cannot wait for the next one!
