If you’re thinking about sleep when you hear the term “La-La Land” then your definition needs one heck of an update.
‘La-La Land,’ is actually now the dictionary definition of Los Angeles – home to some of our favourite international stars, film studios and world premieres.
It is also the place where local television personality Lalla Hirayama will be spending most of her time for M-Net’s new show.
It will be called Lalla Land and M-Net describes it as the magical place where M-Net Movies will whisk movie lovers so they can bask in the fun of all things film-related.
la-la land n. can refer either to Los Angeles (in which case its etymology is influenced by the common initialism for that city), or to a state of being out of touch with reality—and sometimes to both simultaneously.
With microphone in hand, Lalla will embark on trips around the globe to interview A-list stars from the big screen and catch them as they walk the red carpet at international premieres.
Who better than Lalla to give viewers an unusual behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of making blockbuster films? After all, she killed it with her Fast and the Furious premiere coverage for Vuzu.
“We know that our viewers are a little obsessed with movies,” said M-Net Movies Head of Marketing, Justin Jacobie in statement. “With her dynamo personality and charming demeanour Lalla is the ideal person to represent M-Net movies and all our movie fans at these events and bring us closer to all the stars and celebrities that we are all dying to meet,” added Jacobie.
Lalla Land will be screened as mini-sodes across M-Net’s nine movie channels, as well as in a dedicated slot on M-Net Movies Premiere, just before the week’s Sunday night blockbuster at 20:30.
The show can also be viewed on the official M-Net Movie website where it will have its own page. Lalla will also often include exclusive, additional material of her unforgettable trips abroad on the website.
While Lalla Land will feature exclusive interviews and Lalla’s personal diary and cam snippets, viewers will also be granted the chance to shine by submiting their own questions. “This makes Lalla Land extra special,” said Jacobie. “Have you ever had such access to all your favourite stars, asking them the things you really want to know?” he asked.
Lalla has already been up, close and personal with the leads of Batman v. Superman, Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, during a recent visit to London, where she dared to ask Henry if he also wears a Superman outfit at home.
The show hasn’t neglected local filmmakers and actors either. Lalla was on call at the premiere of Happiness is a Four Letter Word which has seen great success on the movie circuit.
The star of the show is ecstatic about the opportunity. “This is an opportunity of a life time! I’m just so grateful I have been afforded to live out my dream and call this my job. I’m excited to bring Africa closer to their favourite Hollywood stars as well as box office hits,” said Hirayama in a statement.
