BayOne for Africa – Inimitable collectibles for the truly fashion forward

BayOne for Africa is a self-described ‘one-stop shop for anything from top fashion to the coolest collectibles.’ What sets this online store apart, however, is the fact that it offers international fashion exclusive to Africa.

The international fashion featured on the site is not your run-of-the mill, big-name brands either. BayOne for Africa boasts a collection of incredibly unique brands for the truly fashion forward crowd.

BayOne understands that the brands they showcase are relatively unknown but they don’t want to alienate any potential customers. They go to great lengths, both literally and figuratively, to source items for their catalogue.

“Our research team goes to great lengths to uncover the most forward-thinking fashion & lifestyle brands from across the world. Their job basically consists of touring the UK and Europe, window shopping and attending fancy events that showcase the industry’s finest products – it’s hard life!” explains Sujatha Daniel McMurtrie, Co-Founder and Director of BayOne for Africa.

“We are lucky in that we do not adopt the usual buy-to-sell model. We connect directly with our brands to showcase their full product range, allowing customers to shop international trends as soon as they hit down, with the comfort in knowing that all items are 100% authentic and sent straight from the brands warehouse.”

Not to say that BayOne is not for the rest of the consumer market.

“For us, Bay One is for everyone. We want anyone to come onto our website and discover something new. We hope to provide a choice that inspires experimentation. Our brands are generally unknown in Africa but are regarded as trend-setters abroad. Perhaps in the beginning, our client will be the type of person who has their own brand and style, not influenced by the name on a label,” explains Daniel-McMurtrie.

Although the products featured on the site are gorgeous, the look and feel of the overall website adds to the appeal of shopping up a storm.

According to Daniel-McMurtrie, “the final look and feel is very much a joint effort between the brands and ourselves [BayOne].”

Bay One is and will always be, exclusively tailored for Africa.”

Shopping on BayOne is currently only available for those who can accept delivery to a South African Address, but that is set to change very quickly seeing as BayOne has expansion plans set for early 2017.

“Each country in Africa has its own unique culture as well as its own requirements. We want to make sure that our platform adapts seamlessly to the customer, depending on where they are shopping from. We have already had private requests from customers looking to get access to Bay One in their country,” said Daniel-McMurtrie.

Local fans of BayOne include the likes of Pabi Moloi, Minnie Dlamini and Lunga Tshabalala as well as Top Billing’s Chris Jaftha  who has donned looks from BayOne on more than one occasion.

Jaftha is such a fan of BayOne that he even offered himself up as a prize of sorts for their Valentines Day Competition.

First of all, we just want to say how amazing it was working with Chris Jaftha. He is such a genuine guy and he brought the competition to life with his infections personality. Sumayah, the winner, was also amazing. The love she received from her school pupils that saw the video just made the competition that little bit more special,” explained Daniel-McMurtrie.

“In regards to future competitions, we have some big things coming up in the not-so-distant future that we will be sure to keep you updated on. You can expect more celebrity experience and the opportunity to do some shopping overseas! It’s worth heading to our social media pages to get all the latest on this, as well daily specials and give-aways!” promised Daniel-McMurtrie.

Competitions featuring shopping experiences with the likes of celebrity stylist, Francios Louw, as well as a Father’s Day competition have passed but it would be worth your while to keep an eye on the BayOne for Africa social media pages or to go right ahead and browse their catalogue.
