Despite being off the air for two years, the Tropika Island of Treasure reality show is reportedly returning for a seventh season and will be adopting its former format featuring a celebrity cast according to TVSA.
The last time that the show had a celebrity cast was in 2013 when the SABC chose to air the fifth season – featuring Reeva Steenkamp – despite the controversy surrounding her death just days before it’s air date. It was followed by an unmemorable sixth season (which I auditioned for) before going quiet.
Da L.E.S won Season 5, taking home the R1 Million prize and now, a new set of celebs get to battle it out in the Seychelles for a prize that is yet to be determined.
Tropika Island of Treasure season 7 will be hosted by Minnie Dlamini and Top Billing presenter, Jonathan Boynton-Lee, will serve as the games master who’ll put them through the challenges.
In addition to reverting to its previous format, the show will air on SABC3 as opposed to its previous homes, e.tv and SABC1. Which is probably why so many SABC 3 alumni are part of the upcoming cast.
Contestants include the likes of Zakeeya Patel, Maurice Paige, Jessica Nkosi, Siv Ngesi, Karlien van Jaarsveld, EmTee and Anga Makubalo.
This explains Minnie’s bizzare Instagram photo!
