Upon launching her ‘Gigi Goes Gold’ campaign, multi-award winning hip hop artist, Gigi Lamayne, raised a pertinent issue:
The highly popular topic of hip hop artists going gold has been a male dominated conversation.
Lamayne is all about doing things that spark a conversation, stand for a cause and push boundaries, as such, she now aims to be the first South African female hip hop artist to get gold selling status with her debut offering, iGenesis.
Over the next few months, fans can keep track of Lamayne’s album sales via the tracker on her website (www.gigilamayne.co.za) and on her social media banners as she tours the country with her Gigi Goes Gold album tour where she will also be selling CDs along the way.
“#GigiGoesGold is really about me cementing a space for myself in South African history in one of many ways. Apart from many other endeavours, I am aiming for Gold as the first female in Hip Hop in South Africa. Only my supporters can help me make this happen” said Lamayne in a statement.
You can help her achieve this goal by purchasing a copy of iGenesis on any of the major digital music platforms or in stores this Friday. Join the conversation online by using the hashtag #GigiGoesGold.
